Project Overview

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S.

The Kilby CCGT project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development that will lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.

The candidate will act as the Deputy Area Superintendent on the upcoming Kilby project in Pecos, TX, and will mobilize directly to the field for a long‑term assignment, contingent upon project award.

Job Summary

The Deputy Area Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing craft operations within assigned disciplines or areas. They will supervise and direct craft activities, subordinate superintendents and others, as assigned. They will ensure that assigned construction operations and subcontractor performance complies with specifications and proceeds within schedules and budgets, performing general functions inherent to all supervisory field positions.

Major Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with various discipline superintendents, general foreman, and foremen to determine equipment requirements.
  • Schedule work to be performed, supervise in‑process activities, and review work when accomplished.
  • Prepare equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables.
  • Supervise and direct subordinate personnel and craft in equipment support activities within various disciplines.
  • Prepare craft requisitions and forecasts, job manpower forecasts, and expenditure forecast.
  • Develop and work plan activities.
  • Implement procedures to ensure construction operations continuously adhere to engineering designs, specifications, quality standards, schedules, and budget.
  • Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned discipline operations.
  • Coordinate field activities with other disciplines.
  • Ensure that all state and federal safety codes, requirements, and standards are complied within the assigned area of responsibility.
Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or other relevant technical disciplines from an accredited university (or international equivalent), plus a minimum of 8+ years of relevant work experience; or 12+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Experience
  • Installation of Light Duty Gas Turbines.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in field supervision on direct hire work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction engineering practices related to all disciplines.
  • Demonstrated planning and scheduling, procurement, and contracting experience.
  • Maintain, promote and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft.
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and a Zero Accident safety program.
  • Extensive experience in civil construction of large projects.
  • Sound understanding of performance management processes.
  • Advanced understanding of production management including scheduling.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of cost management, including estimating and forecast development.
