The Renewables & Clean Power team has signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S. The project is located in Pecos, Texas, and involves early‑stage development that will lead to full EPC delivery next year. The Piping Field Superintendent will oversee mechanical construction activities on the CCGT Project.
Job SummaryThe Piping Field Superintendent provides onsite leadership for mechanical construction, primarily focused on the project’s T350s. Responsibilities include ensuring safe work, meeting technical requirements, and aligning with project schedule and budget. The role directs craft labor and subcontractors, oversees daily field operations, drives workforce planning, progress reporting, and cost/schedule performance, resolves constructability issues, and ensures effective use of automation tools and project procedures.
MajorResponsibilities
- Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
- Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
- Determines workforce requirements.
- Coordinates established area operational plans.
- Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Prepares field material requisitions for tools and consumables to ensure crafts have necessary equipment.
- Ensures the most current design documents are used and all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensures construction operations and subcontractor performance comply with specifications, schedules, and budgets.
- Interprets engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents in collaboration with field engineers, foremen, and craft professionals.
- Coordinates engineering solutions with subcontractors, foremen, and craft professionals.
- Collaborates with design on constructability issues.
- Oversees preparation of testing processes and required test equipment.
- Inspects installed components for technical acceptance.
- Oversees development of commodity installation means and methods.
- Implements understanding of industry and international codes & standards applicable to the work scope.
- Utilizes applicable automation software and processes.
- Possesses thorough knowledge of Section 1 and B31.1 codes.
- Is competent in supervising heavy lift activities.
- Has thorough knowledge of welding, including the latest technologies and NDE methods.
- Has a strong background in union craft management and understanding of the project labor agreement.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
- Previous experience delivering a combined‑cycle power plant as Field Superintendent.
- Ability to interpret engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Oversee engineering solutions with subcontractors, foremen, and craft professionals.
- Coordinate with design on constructability issues.
- Oversee preparation of testing processes and required test equipment.
- Inspect installed components for technical acceptance.
- Develop commodity installation means and methods.
- Understand and apply industry and international codes & standards.
- Utilize automation software and processes.
- Knowledge of Section 1 and B31.1 codes.
