Project OverviewThe rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.
Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year.
Job SummaryIn this role, you will support the installation of all underground piping and related Balance of Plant commodities for multiple General Electric 7HA Simple Cycle power generating systems and their auxiliary support systems. Duties include ensuring current and approved Installation Work Packages are readily available for the craft professionals. You will also be responsible for interpreting piping design drawings, specifications, piping installation/fabrication including pipe hangers and inline piping components.
Provide field verification of materials and technical direction to field piping personnel as required for works related to the installation of multiple Simple Cycle power generation systems and Balance of Plant systems.
- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
- Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
- Confirm and track completion of hydrotest results especially to support backfill operations for underground piping.
- Ensure compliance with the implementation, accuracy, and use of all Construction Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Tracks progress of assigned subcontracts and provides input to project schedules and cost reports.
- Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
- Previous experience in the installation of carbon steel, ductile iron, stainless steel and HDPE piping.
- Maintain, promote and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft and professional staff.
- A thorough knowledge of ANSI, ASME & ASTM.
- Knowledge of direct hire construction.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Navisworks, Pipefighter, document management system/Aconex, Unifier, Quantity reporting software/Teamworks.
- Excellent communication and problem solving ability.
- Experienced implementing and utilizing Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
- Familiar with current industry quality standards.
- Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.
