The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S. The Kilby CCGT project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.
Job SummaryIn this role, you will supervise and direct craft operations for balance of plant sitewide. You will supervise and direct craft activities, subordinate superintendents and others, as assigned. You will ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance follows specifications and stays within schedules and budget. You will perform the general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
Major Responsibilities- Supervise and direct craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others.
- Schedule work to be performed and review work accomplished by each craft.
- Determine workforce requirements.
- Coordinate established area operational plans.
- Oversee tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Manage the preparation of field material requisitions for tools and consumables, ensuring that the craft professionals have the tools they require to be productive.
- Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
- Work with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Manage engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Foremen, and Craft Professionals.
- Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10–13 years of relevant experience or 14–17 years of relevant work experience.
- Take actions necessary to meet project budget and schedule requirements.
- Experience in Combined Cycle power projects would be preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction engineering practices related to all disciplines.
- Coordinate the Construction Completion Walkdowns and supervise the close‑out of all punch‑list items.
- Strong background in underground commodities installation (HDPE, Carbon Steel, Duct bank, etc.).
- Review equipment rentals and coordinate shared use of the equipment between the trades and manage the equipment budget.
- Establish the tool trailer list at the onset of the project.
- Maintain, promote and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft.
- Ensure competent and practical adherence to the Bechtel standards and lessons learned.
- Administer the execution of work packages and equipment installation.
- Identify potential back charges and out‑of‑scope issues and report to management; support commercial recovery process.
- Ensure all quality expectations are being met by holding supervisors and craft accountable.
- Be able to work extended work schedules as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
