- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and reliability of compressors and vapor recovery units (VRUs), and provide technical support for flares and combustors.
- Report daily to the Production Superintendent regarding compressor performance and all identified issues.
- Review compression-related scopes of work, proposals, and commercial terms; identify operational or commercial concerns and recommend revisions before approval.
- Oversee Compressor Technicians in performance of major repairs, overhauls, troubleshooting activities, and equipment-return-to-service decisions.
- Coordinate operating activity to ensure continual workflow of contract labor and equipment, maintaining timelines and expense budgets.
- Inspect the quality of the preventive maintenance programs by contractors, downtime, operating costs, fuel, oil, and antifreeze use thereby reducing repair and downtime costs.
- Identify and correct recurring equipment failures to reduce repeat contractor service calls.
- Assist Facility Engineers in standardization of compression facilities whenever practical.
- Inspects units and materials delivered for jobs for quality and quantity and tracks inventory.
- Act as main point of contact for contractors, vendors, outside agencies, and company personnel necessary to support Compression Operations.
- Serve as liaison between compression vendors and the Facility Engineers.
- Review, process, and approve invoices associated with compression repair and preventive maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, technical staff, and operational management.
- Ensure employees and contractors adhere to local, company, state, and federal rules, regulations, and policies.
- Maintain regulatory compliance by coordinating closely with the EH&S and Air Quality departments.
- Maintain accurate equipment histories, maintenance records, failure reports, and asset documentation.
- Develop annual maintenance plans, operating budgets, inventory requirements, and major-overhaul forecasts.
- Verify contractor qualifications, work quality, safety performance, and compliance with approved scopes and rates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to drive a company vehicle.
- Minimum of 5 years or more of compressor experience including preventive maintenance, diagnosis of problems, and required repairs.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisor/management experience.
- Must be able to start compressors and place them online.
- Ability to judge priorities on unit repairs in terms of downtime, potential losses, and efficient working methods.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees in the organization.
- Demonstrate knowledge of economic evaluations and indicators and their effect on the area of responsibility.
- Demonstrate proficiency with SCADA, computerized maintenance-management systems, and related digital reporting tools.
- Understand compression for gas lift application and compressor station operations.
- Must be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision, maintain reliable attendance, and demonstrate flexible and cooperative behavior in the workplace.
