Landfill Cleanup Crew

General Purpose

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for operating sanitation routines, picking up waste and illegal dumping around the city, promoting a safety conscious attitude with fellow employees and citizens. The job content can involve spraying herbicides and insecticides, picking up litter, brush and weed cutting, general clean up driving to various work sites, and performing related duties as required.

Reports to the Landfill Supervisor.

None.

• General site cleanup and picking up litter.
• Maintain the city right-of-way by removing litter and illegally dumped items.
• Regularly monitor areas known for illegal dumping.
• Deliver dumpsters to assigned locations.
• Participate in special events and projects as needed.
• Provide information and directions to the public regarding proper dumping and restricted hazardous materials.
• Provide customer service to the public by providing information as requested.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year of employment history in a similar environment.

• Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth, promoting the Company’s safety standards and working with honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness.
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor involving frequent bending, pulling, pushing, lifting, and carrying.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge in ground maintenance, hand tools, and related equipment.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment safety practices.
• Experience operating equipment is a plus.

Must hold and maintain a valid Texas State Driver's license or obtain one within six months of hire.

Weed eater, lawn mower, yard tools, skid steer loader, chain saw, UTV skid sprayer.

Work involves constant exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises. Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
