Position Overview
This position will be with Desert Environmental, LLC, an affiliate of Water Bridge Operating, LLC. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for moving waste throughout the facility for treatment and disposal by operating various equipment, such as dozers, excavators, loaders, and dump trucks.
Responsibilities- Operate a variety of heavy equipment used in a landfill.
- Perform pre‑shift safety inspections on vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories.
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Maintain good housekeeping of equipment.
- Assist in maintenance and repairs if needed.
- Assist with the operation of other equipment as needed.
- Conduct all business activities in accordance with health and safety policies and legal compliance requirements and bring problems to the attention of the supervisor, superintendent, and/or HSE.
- Wash equipment as instructed, perform oil changes, pump pits, perform JSA’s and safety observations.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
- Minimum of 6 months of related experience; 1 year preferred.
- Experience operating one or more of the following:
Articulating Dump Truck, Motor Grader, Excavator, Loader, Dozer. - Live in Pecos, TX, or within a 30‑mile radius, or live in Orla, TX, or within a 60‑mile radius (both locations are required). Company‑paid housing will be provided during working shifts.
Operates in a field environment, may be subject to extreme conditions such as heat or cold.
Requirements include standing, walking, or sitting for prolonged periods; walking on uneven and vegetated terrain; use of hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. Occasional lifting and/or moving of objects up to 50 pounds; ability to carry a self‑contained breathing apparatus if needed.
Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type & ScheduleFull‑time. 14/7 (14 days on, 7 days off) rotational schedule. 12‑hour shifts.
