Job Summary:
The Data Center Fiber Manager leads all fiber-optic splicing activities for large-scale, hyperscale data center projects. This role manages multi-shift splicing and testing teams (including fiber prep), coordinates closely with installation, logistics, and project management, and ensures the accuracy, quality, and on-time delivery of high-density backbone and distribution splicing. The manager provides hands‑on technical guidance, optimizes workflows for efficiency and scalability, and enforces compliance with client specifications, TIA/manufacturer standards, and site safety requirements.
- Manage and schedule fiber splicing, fiber prep, and testing teams (typically 8–10technicians) across multiple shifts, data halls, and work sites.
- Forecast manpower and allocate resources to meet production targets, commissioning sequences, and cutover windows.
- Provide technical mentorship, performance feedback, and corrective coaching.
- Oversee mass‑fusion (ribbon) and single‑fiber splicing for high‑fiber‑count trunks and distribution cabling.
- Approve splice plans and fiber assignments; ensure splice trays, cassettes, panels, andODFs are configured per design.
- Resolve complex field challenges (routing constraints, fiber , designgaps) with decisive technical guidance.
- Ensure all splicing adheres to client specs, TIA standards, and manufacturer guidance.
- Lead Tier 1 and Tier 2 testing programs: OTDR, OLTS, polarity, end‑face inspection,and loss‑budget validation.
- Review and interpret test results, resolve anomalies, close punch lists, and approve finaldeliverables.
- Partner with QA/QC for audits and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate with general contractors and project stakeholders to align splicing sequences with pathway build, cabinet/ODF readiness, and material staging.
- Review design packages—splice schematics, fiber assignment charts, rack elevations, routing diagrams—for feasibility and accuracy; drive RFIs to resolution.
- Prepare progress reports and production dashboards for leadership and clients.
- Ensure crews have required consumables (splice trays, ribbon kits, fan‑outs, cassettes,cleaners) and protective components.
- Manage equipment fleet readiness (fusion splicers, cleavers, OTDR/OLTS, scopes) including calibration, maintenance, and inventory controls.
- Coordinate delivery and staging of HFC reels and breakout kits with logistics teams.
- Develop and implement workflow optimization strategies to improve throughput, consistency, and scalability.
- Standardize best practices, documentation templates, and labeling conventions across teams and shifts.
- Maintain professional, ethical, and company standards; champion continuous improvement.
- Enforce safety protocols in splicing environments (fiber‑shard control, PPE, solvent handling, clean splice‑area practices).
- Support EHS and site protocols (hot work/LOTO where applicable) and correct unsafe conditions in real time.
- Ensure accurate completion of splice logs, routing sheets, test reports, labeling records, and as‑builts.
- Deliver complete, client‑ready turnover documentation on schedule.

Required- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.
