Automation Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Automation Specialist to support the installation, programming, start-up, and ongoing maintenance of automation and process control systems. This role is critical to improving plant system reliability, uptime, and operational efficiency while reducing total operating costs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install, program, start up, and maintain automation and process control equipment to support daily operations.
  • Design, specify, install, program, calibrate, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair automation equipment.
  • Support a wide range of plant systems and equipment, including DCS, PLC, measurement facilities, natural gas collection systems, gas compressors, and gas plant processing equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Information Technology teams.
  • Work with complex PLC programs and advanced process control systems, requiring strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Perform calibration and maintenance of pneumatic instrumentation.
  • Respond to overtime and call-out work as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operations.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 10+ years of related experience in automation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills for complex automation system issues.
  • Solid knowledge of automation host systems.
  • Ability to read electronic schematics, identify components, and understand their functions.
  • Proficiency in reading, programming, installing, and troubleshooting complex PLC programs.
  • Strong computer skills.
Working Conditions
  • Combination of office work (prolonged computer use) and outdoor fieldwork in adverse or extreme weather conditions.
  • Frequent travel by vehicle to field facilities within the assigned region.
  • Availability outside normal working hours as required by business needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with applicable federal, state, and local standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
  • Ability to work effectively under the working conditions described above.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 62 lbs. in a safe manner.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a safe driving record satisfactory to the company.
