Hiring for a Bilingual Phlebotomist in Peekskill, NY
The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation. Their ability to put patients at ease and obtain sufficient samples with minimal discomfort across a wide demographic is critical to our commitment to high-quality care.
Responsibilities- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and carry out decontamination procedures.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously to patients.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using straight and butterfly needles.
- Understand and execute all physicians' orders accurately.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, and handle specimens as required by test orders.
- Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport and store samples according to required temperature.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Wear appropriate attire.
- Attend annual department training sessions.
- Handle telephone inquiries and read laboratory results when necessary.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood drawing techniques.
- Experience with straight needle techniques.
- 2-3 years of experience in drawing blood.
- Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in infant draws is a plus.
- Experience with pediatric blood draws is beneficial.
This position offers the opportunity for in-state travel and provides a change of scenery. The job does not require work during holidays or vacations. There are two openings with the following schedules:
Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm with every other Saturday 9am-1pm, and Monday-Friday 8am-1pm with every Saturday 9am-2pm, with potential for additional hours.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Peekskill, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
