How you make a differenceThe Licensed Practical Nurse plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the supervision of RN(s).
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients’ physical, psychological, and social dimensions in both the health care unit and housing units under RN supervision, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as needed.
- Implement treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administer medications, including IV therapy if certified, and perform diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines.
- Assist in medical or minor surgical procedures, implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and document nursing encounters using SOAP charting to ensure effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high‑quality patient care.
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience: Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinical experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical or Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
We are looking for a PRN LPN to join our clinical team at Tazewell County Jail. This position will cover mostly weekday shifts, 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.
