Thursday - Sunday (6 AM - 4:30 PM)

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Thermal Protection Application Technician 2 in Courtland, AL
! As a key member of our team responsible for component manufacturing, disassembly, assembly, and materials stewardship within our Courtland, Alabama facility.
This role requires that you be able to work from engineering drawings, written work instructions, and process specifications to meet quality production standards. You will need to be a self‑starter, capable of working independently or leading a team with minimal supervision in an environment where the ability to perform is essential.
As the Thermal Protection Application Technician you will be responsible for a variety of essential job functions, such as:
- Perform washing, chemical treatments, and surface prep/application/finishing to ensure optimal TPS adhesion and longevity.
- Prepare missile, parts, components, and surfaces, ensuring all areas are properly protected and free from contaminants.
- Utilize various hand tools and hand‑held power tools such as grinders, sanders, paint guns, and measuring devices to achieve desired TPS finishes.
- Maintain and troubleshoot application equipment to ensure continuous operation and optimal performance in the aerospace industry.
- Ensure all surfaces are prepped to exact specifications, applying advanced techniques to achieve optimal paint adhesion and a high‑quality finish.
- While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will be required to equip PPE as required to perform job tasks.
- Use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear.
- Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, twist, and work on or in the aircraft.
- Frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Perform repetitive movements and work overhead.
- The employee is regularly exposed to vibration.

- Knowledge and use of hand tools such as grinders, sanders, paint guns, and measuring devices.
- 1+ years Aerospace manufacturing experience or related field.
- Experienced with TPS or equivalent application including washing, chemical treatments, and surface prep/application/finishing
- Final assembly (missile preferred experience) and required safety and contamination protections are in place.
