Warehouse Associate - Pelham AL

Overview

Warehouse Associates are individual contributors responsible for executing warehousing activities for incoming and outgoing goods. They receive, handle, store, record and dispatch goods in the warehouse. They ensure warehousing operations including packing and storage, replenishment, picking, loading and dispatching are completed in a safe, timely and efficient manner. Maintains complete and accurate data in the ERP (SxE) system.

• Complete shipments by processing and loading orders; read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
• Unload, receive and store incoming goods; unpack containers; check for damage and discrepancies between goods and invoices; may install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Sort, label, move and store goods; place items on racks or bins according to predetermined sequences; optimize warehouse space; follow work orders or verbal instructions.
• Weigh or count items for distribution to ensure conformance to company standards.
• Prepare, pick, pack, and dispatch outgoing goods; use pick sheets to locate items; handle pallets with pallet jack or forklift; verify product and quantity accuracy.
• Load trucks for customer delivery; install strapping, bracing, or padding as needed; check for damage and discrepancies.
• Consolidate freight for shipping; verify shipping methods; communicate oversize loads to freight carriers; maintain shipping routes.
• Enter data into a database or internal system to maintain up-to-date stock records; respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules; document discrepancies and seek corrective action.
• Process tickets or worksheets from customer specifications.
• Operate warehouse equipment as needed (e.g., forklifts, cherry-picking lifts, pallet jacks, or other machinery).
• Assist in inventory maintenance and counts; follow warehouse safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Hours:
  
  Mon-Fri 7am-4pm. 1 hr unpaid lunch. Occasional OT.
• Temp to hire.
• Physical demands: may lift up to 50 lb on occasion unassisted; may be required to wrap pallets; steel toe shoes required.
• Experience:
  
  sit-down forklift experience helpful but not necessary.
• Skills:
  
  basic computer skills; will use internal systems to print shipping tickets.

• 1+ year of relevant experience and/or training. High school diploma or equivalent preferred (not required).
• Demonstrated attention to detail and safety-mindedness.
• Experience in loading, unloading, picking, packing or moving goods in a warehouse environment; forklift/cherry picker experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work orders, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Basic computer knowledge and aptitude; familiarity with MS-Office, SX.e, Prophet 21, or related systems.
• Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division; rate, ratio, percent) preferred.
• Ability to compile routine reports and write correspondence; ability to work in a team and be self-motivated to accomplish tasks.
