Temporary Line Workers; Seasonal

Lake Region Electric Cooperative (LREC) is a member-owned electric utility serving more than 30,000 member-consumers across west-central Minnesota, and each year we offer recent graduates the opportunity to build skills as a Temporary Line Worker.

In this seasonal role, you’ll work alongside experienced Lineworkers and Equipment Operators, supporting the construction, operation, and maintenance of electric distribution lines and substations. This is physically demanding, outdoor work that emphasizes safety, teamwork, and learning the fundamentals of linework.

• Hands-on field work supporting overhead and underground electric construction
• Exposure to utility safety standards, operating procedures, and equipment
• Team-based work environment with experienced line crews
• A strong foundation for a future career in the electric utility industry

• Five seasonal positions available from mid-May through November
  • Four based in Pelican Rapids, MN
  • One based in Ottertail, MN

• Recent graduates or students completing a technical college lineworker program
• Individuals who can understand and apply electric terminology, specifications, and codes
• Candidates able to communicate in a professional, helpful, and courteous manner
• Individuals capable of performing physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Candidates willing and able to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Team-oriented professionals with strong communication skills and a commitment to safety
• Availability to work standard hours (Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.), with overtime as needed; assistance is expected during major outages
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment screening, which may include a physical examination, drug screening, background check, reference check, and motor vehicle record check, as applicable to the position

The pay range for this position starts at $24.00 - $25.00 per hour. Job offer rates are determined based on the candidate’s specific education, experience, and in alignment with market data.
