Controls Engineer - Siemens PLC Specialist

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Controls Engineer with deep expertise in Siemens S7-300 and S7-1500 PLC programming to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment near Birmingham, Alabama. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in dynamic settings and is passionate about automation, capital project execution, and electrical design.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, program, and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs using Simatic Manager and TIA Portal V15.1-V18
- Lead and manage capital projects, ensuring compliance with NEC and NFPA standards
- Design electrical control panels using AutoCAD 2016
- Perform start-up, commissioning, and program edits for new and existing systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes
- Maintain accurate documentation and provide technical support across departments
- Proven experience in Siemens PLC programming (S7-300 & S7-1500)
- Strong understanding of electrical codes (NEC, NFPA)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2016 for panel design
- Background in fast-paced manufacturing environments
- Hands-on experience with start-up and commissioning
- Familiarity with Simatic Manager and TIA Portal V15.1-V18
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent years of experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly self-motivated and detail-oriented
