The RN Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the facility’s staff education and in-service training programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a culture of continuous learning, clinical competency, and excellence in resident care. As a key member of the leadership team, the Staff Development Coordinator plays an essential role in onboarding new employees, providing ongoing education, and supporting the professional development of nursing staff and other facility team members.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate, and conduct orientation and training programs for new employees.
- Develop and implement ongoing in-service education programs for clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Ensure staff maintain required certifications, competencies, and regulatory training requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with facility leadership to identify training needs and promote staff development.
- Maintain accurate training records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to nursing staff.
- Stay current with changes in healthcare regulations, best practices, and clinical standards.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program or approved Registered Nurse (RN) program.
- Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare‑related facility.
- Experience in staff supervision, education, training, and competency development.
- Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively educate, motivate, and support employees at all levels.
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or geriatric healthcare.
- Previous experience in staff development, education, infection prevention, or nurse leadership roles.
- Knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and survey requirements.
