Mid-Level Accountant
Join the team at American Wood Fibers (AWF), a premier manufacturer of consumer and industrial wood‑fiber products catering to various markets across North America. With a dedicated team of over 380 professionals and an impressive annual revenue exceeding $100M, we are eager to welcome a new Mid‑Level Accountant to our Pella, IA facility. Reporting directly to the CFO/Vice President of Finance, you will play a vital role in supporting multi‑site accounting functions and financial reporting.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Mid‑Level Accountant, you will engage in essential accounting tasks that require independent judgment, technical expertise, and analytical skills. You will contribute to financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and operational analysis, while working closely with accounting leadership and site teams.
- Preparing account reconciliations, financial reports, and insightful analyses.
- Assisting with month‑end and year‑end close processes.
- Reviewing financial outcomes and identifying variances for improvement.
- Researching and resolving discrepancies efficiently.
- Providing guidance to plant accounting teams.
- Assisting with audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Monitoring cash activity and collections effectively.
- Offering backup support for payroll operations.
- Participating in special projects that drive efficiency.
- Assisting in process improvement initiatives.
- Ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
- Collaborating across departments to enhance workflows.
- Taking on additional duties as assigned to meet team goals.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Capability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Detail‑oriented and exceptionally organized with great communication skills.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP is essential.
- Experience in manufacturing or multi‑entity environments is preferred.
- Possession of a CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
