Job Description
Are you passionate about using technology to transform manufacturing? As an Industry 4.0 Engineer III, you'll help shape the future of smart manufacturing by leading projects that connect people, equipment, data, and automation to improve operational performance. Working across engineering, operations, IT, quality, and supply chain, you'll implement innovative Industry 4.0 technologies that increase efficiency, enhance the employee experience, and drive measurable business results.
This role offers the opportunity to own high-impact projects, collaborate with diverse teams, and influence manufacturing operations across multiple facilities.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Lead Industry 4.0 projects from concept through implementation, including planning, resource coordination, execution, and project closeout.
- Partner with Operations, Information Technology, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and external suppliers to deploy smart manufacturing solutions.
- Implement and support technologies such as RFID systems, machine and process monitoring, digital work instructions, mobile and web applications, and manufacturing data collection systems.
- Drive improvements in key operational metrics including safety, quality, productivity, capacity, cost, on-time delivery, and customer experience.
- Develop project scopes, business cases, schedules, budgets, and implementation plans.
- Analyze manufacturing processes and recommend technology-driven solutions that improve efficiency and reliability.
- Effectively communicate project updates, present recommendations, and build alignment with stakeholders across the organization.
- Measure and communicate project outcomes and business value using data and performance metrics.
- Apply project management, Agile, Lean, and Continuous Improvement principles throughout project execution.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor engineering technicians, co-ops, interns, and project team members as needed.
- Support a safe work environment by following company safety policies and best practices.
- Travel up to 25% to support project implementation across manufacturing locations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 3+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, automation, controls, industrial technology, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience leading technical or cross-functional projects from planning through implementation.
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies such as industrial IoT, RFID, machine connectivity, manufacturing execution systems (MES), digital work instructions, data analytics, or industrial automation.
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems, process improvement, and Lean or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Experience working with IT/OT systems and collaborating across engineering, operations, and information technology teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Microsoft Project and AutoCAD is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
