Overview

Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery (L&D) travel assignment in a rural critical access hospital setting in Pella, IA.

Start date:

09/14/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $2,116–$2,286 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 hours. Shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, Friday through Sunday (3x12-hour nights). This assignment offers acute care obstetric and neonatal care within a small-community, high-quality care environment.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the health care team using evidence-based practice to deliver safe, effective obstetric and neonatal care.
  • Direct the work of support staff in the provision of nursing care and ensure continuity of care across shifts.
  • Perform general nursing duties with critical thinking and minimal supervision, including monitoring patient status and responding to changes.
  • Conduct age-appropriate assessments across neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations as applicable to the setting.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to promote safe outcomes and patient-centered care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, adhere to nursing standards, and uphold patient safety and infection control practices.
Requirements
  • Current Iowa RN license (in good standing)
  • BSN preferred (not required)
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required; new employees certify within 3 months after hire
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Acute care nursing experience preferred
  • English communication skills; strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities
  • Basic computer literacy and sound nursing judgment
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate care in a fast‑paced setting
