Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Labor and Delivery Nurse

Provides specialized nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective maternal and infant care throughout childbirth.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' progress during labor and respond to changing clinical needs.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs to ensure safety and optimal outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery processes, and postpartum care.
• Administer medications and perform interventions within scope of practice.
• Lead and direct support staff to maintain high standards of patient care and safety.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited RN program; BSN preferred.
• Current RN licensure and registration in the State of Iowa in good standing.
• AHA Heart Code BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
• Prior experience in labor and delivery or obstetric setting highly desirable.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and empathetic listening skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate sound clinical judgment.
