The Youth Development Specialist works within Pemberton Township High School, serving students and families in the district. Responsibilities include providing youth development and enrichment activities individually and in group and family settings for adolescents, developing and facilitating recreation and special event activities, and participating in agency performance improvement activities and projects as needed. The specialist demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary for appropriate care across age-related needs, maintains consumer records for both agency and funding reporting sources, and applies principles of growth and development to support the consumer population served.

The program offers an array of free services to help students navigate high school, gain skills for graduation and employment or continuing education. Services include counseling; prevention programs for violence, pregnancy, drug and alcohol; access to health services; employment skills development; learning support services; and family supports.

• Bachelor’s Degree in mental health, social work, or related field preferred
• Experience working individually and in groups with adolescents
• Knowledge of human service referral systems and community agencies
• Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, school personnel, and community agency representatives
