Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be willing to accept part-time employment (20 hours per week).
- Must be a current employee of the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Must be willing and able to work a schedule that is inclusive of weekends and holidays.
- One year clerical experience, college education from an accredited institution OR vocational/technical training in the area of secretarial/office/business studies.
- Fluency and the ability to communicate effectively in the English language: reading, writing, and speaking both in person and on the telephone.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must successfully complete a Level II Background Screening to include, but not limited to a drug test and finger printing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic bookkeeping; cash handling; and clerical experience, including filing.
- Employment experience in a long-term care facility.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Position
Description:
The incumbent is responsible for responding to inquiries and obtaining information for the general public, customers, visitors, and other interested parties. Incumbents provide information regarding activities conducted at establishment, location of departments, offices, and employees within organization. Incumbent greets visitors to the facility in a courteous manner. Provides limited information to the general public regarding services rendered at the State Veterans' Nursing Home.
Answers and routes external and in-house calls. Takes and delivers accurate messages to appropriate staff members in a timely fashion. Maintains order in the reception area provides magazines and other reading material to visitors as well as residents. Ensure adequate lighting and comfortable room temperatures are maintained within the reception area. Ensures at all times Residents Rights as well and Resident confidentially are protected.
Prepare letters, reports, forms and other documents, ensuring that they are accurate and timely. Delivers medication received via the mail immediately to the respective section. Assists families and visitors with meal receipts and with the purchasing of meals. Coordinates mail flow in and out of the office, along with collecting and distributing parcels. Performs basic bookkeeping; filing; cash handling; and clerical duties.
Able to remain calm in emergencies and capable of using an overhead PA system for announcements. Performs other routine office duties as instructed by supervisor.
