Position OverviewGulliver Prep Upper School faculty are passionate, student-centered educators committed to delivering dynamic, engaging, and rigorous academic experiences. Faculty actively contribute to a culture of data-informed improvement, academic excellence, and community belonging. They are collaborative professionals who strive to foster deep learning, critical thinking, and the holistic development of all students in alignment with Gulliver’s mission and educational philosophy.
The Upper School Physical Education department is seeking passionate and dedicated educators to join their team. The qualified candidate must be able to development and execute effective lesson plans that cover the curriculum and engage students’ interests related to wellness and mindfulness, with the ability to teach sports, weight training, and yoga. Candidates should be knowledgeable in health and wellness principals along with injury practices.
This position will plan practice opportunities that are structured for maximum participation (e.g., individual, partner, and small-group activities; non-elimination activities that require no wait time).
Additionally, this position requires faculty to coach one sport during the school year (assistant or head coach) but are encouraged to coach multiple sports throughout the school year. Applicants should be enthusiastic, patient, empathetic, and able to motivate students of all abilities.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe Upper School Faculty key responsibilities are as follows:
- Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with department standards and school-wide curriculum goals — prioritizing student voice, risk-taking, and authentic problem-solving alongside technical growth.
- Design lessons that engage all learners, incorporate best practices, and promote deeper understanding of course content.
- Manage the classroom and studio in a way that balances creative freedom with structure, trust, and mutual respect.
- Utilize technology and innovative tools to enhance student learning and creativity.
- Contribute to curriculum development and revision in collaboration with department colleagues and the Department Chair.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly using multiple data sources; provide timely, actionable feedback.
