Job Summary

The purpose of a parts purchaser is to identify and order parts required for the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles, as well as providing advice and support to customers. They are responsible for keeping accurate records of stock levels and inventory, as well as ensuring parts are ordered and delivered on time. They must have knowledge of a wide range of parts, their functions, and where to obtain them.

Parts Person is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and managing the inventory of parts in the parts department. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work accurately and efficiently. The Parts Person will handle customer inquiries, provide advice and information on parts, and take orders, as well as stocking and organizing inventory. They will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and monitoring stock levels.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, a strong knowledge of parts, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Duties
  • Process orders for parts and equipment
  • Interact with customers and vendors to answer questions, provide product information, and process orders
  • Track parts orders to ensure timely delivery
  • Prepare and maintain parts inventory records
  • Maintain parts database and related software programs
  • Check incoming shipments to ensure accuracy
  • Order parts from suppliers as needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of automotive parts
  • Ability to use computerized inventory systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency with computers and related software
  • Ability to lift heavy objects
  • Familiarity with automotive parts and accessories

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least three years of related experience required or experience in the auto industry
  • Automobile Service Consultant Certification (C1) from National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) preferred not required
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary
  • Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements
  • Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
  • Valid state driver's license required
  • Valid commercial driver's license (A, B, or C with specific endorsements) preferred
