Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (MPFI) is seeking a Research Scientist for the Department of Neurotechnology.

The Tian Lab, directed by Dr. Lin Tian, Scientific Director of the Max Planck Florida Institute, is seeking a Senior molecular biotechnology Research Scientist to develop and validate high-throughput workflow for single-cell screening of biosensors and drugs.

The Tian lab focuses on technological innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration to uncover the connection between brain function and behavior in healthy and diseased states, such as neurological and psychiatric disorders. Our ultimate goal is to find treatments for neuropsychiatric diseases that free patients from debilitating symptoms without the unwanted properties characteristic of existing therapeutics.

The ideal candidate is highly experienced with high-throughput assay development, cellular imaging, imaging analysis and next-generation sequencing (NGS). The selected candidate will report to Dr. Lin Tian and is expected to lead and implement collaborative projects including collaborating with colleagues at other institutions; managing the progress of the project, analyzing data; presenting and/or publishing research results; overseeing technician level staff; and assisting in managing the daily operation of the laboratory.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated with excellent communication skills and has the ability to work in a collaborative team setting.

Minimum Education and/or Training:
  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field
  • A minimum of two (2) years of postdoctoral experience in protein chemistry, bioengineering, cell culture and/or bioinformatics
  • Experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS)
  • Experience with lab management and leadership
  • Must possess demonstrated excellence in writing, interpreting, organizing, and communicating
