Matter Brothers a top 100 furniture retailer located in Pinellas Park, FL, family owned and operated for over 40 years serving Florida's West Coast, is looking for a Merchandise Assistant to join our TEAM!
The Merchandise Assistant provides administrative support to the merchandising team, with a primary focus on accurate SKU management throughout the product lifecycle-from product setup and maintenance through phase-out. The role partners with vendors, showrooms, and internal teams to maintain reliable product information, support merchandise strategies, and keep day-to-day processes moving efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, enter, and maintain accurate SKU and product information, including descriptions, specifications, pricing, status, and related records.
- Maintain merchandising tools and product data; audit records, identify discrepancies, and coordinate corrections.
- Manage and distribute clear communication to vendors, showrooms, and cross-functional teams regarding merchandising direction and expectations.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and obtain the information needed to support accurate product setup and maintenance.
- Prepare, organize, and analyze merchandise, inventory, and product lifecycle reports.
- Support showroom product resets, events, installations, and other merchandising initiatives.
- Build effective working relationships and contribute to process improvements across the merchandising function.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the Company's Core and Growth Values in all job functions.
Qualifications and Skills
- Two years of experience in retail merchandising, purchasing, inventory control, project coordination, or a related field preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in business, merchandising, marketing, retailing, or a related field—or equivalent experience—preferred.
- Strong data-entry, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with STORIS and/or Salesforce is a plus.
- Knowledge of merchandising, pricing, assortment planning, SKU management, and omnichannel retail preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a professional, team-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple priorities within established deadlines.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
