POLICE: School Resource Officer (Part Time) **$66,999 Salary Per Year

Under general supervision of a Sergeant, performs a wide variety of police and law enforcement activities mostly related to the school environment. Tasks are primarily service oriented and include disseminating information, arbitrating disputes, providing assistance through referrals, property protection, crime prevention, investigative, and other public safety services. Duties also include working with students, mentoring students, conducting GREAT and GRADE program activities, etc.

Duties include an element of personal danger, exposure to adverse weather conditions, apprehending criminals, directing traffic, and transporting prisoners. Incumbents perform duties in accordance with Florida State Statutes and established departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. The incumbent must be able to act without close supervision and must be able to exercise independent judgment. Work is reviewed through observation, conferences and review of written reports for results obtained and adherence to established policies and procedures.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED & must also attach MODIFIED BMST from Broward College (valid within the last 6 mos), also your FDLE Certification. Must be LEO certified with a minimum 5 years of law enforcement experience. SRO certification preferred. (see special requirements).

Must fill out the Police Employment application for Certified Police Officer and fulfill requirements for Certified Police Officer:
Must have 5 years Law Enforcement experience. Pass MODIFIED B.M.S.T. from Broward College (valid within last 6 months), Pass Swim Test (valid for life), Copy of Birth Certificate or other proof of Birth and U.S. Citizenship, Copy of High School Diploma or GED, Copy of driver's license & social security card, Original DD-214 Form, Copy of FDLE Certification, CJSTC 58 Form/Attestation of Truthfulness/Attestation of Non Military Service signed and notarized.
