Job Summary
The purpose of the position is to perform all lighting engineering functions related to the Stage, Lobby, and Multi-Purpose Room, at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center (“LPAC”), under the general supervision of the General Manager or designee. Employees in this classification perform skilled functions on an on‑call/temporary basis. Position is responsible for safely managing lighting for live performances, troubleshooting all lighting issues within the facility, maintaining and repairing all house lighting equipment/hardware, directing Stage Crew, and performing general duties including but not limited to load‑in, set‑up, strike and load‑out.

- Safely and effectively execute the lighting plan for productions and events; troubleshoot any technical issues with the lighting; find viable solutions under tight deadlines.
- Program and operate lighting consoles during rehearsals, performances, and events; adjust lighting cues as needed to match creative and technical requirements/requests.
- Oversee the installation, focusing, and rigging of lighting instruments; maintain and troubleshoot lighting equipment, ensuring all fixtures, dimmers, and consoles function properly.
- Manage lighting inventory and schedule regular maintenance and repairs; advise Production Manager of necessary repairs/replacements or equipment upgrades within the lighting inventory to ensure maximum efficiency and smooth operations.
- Assist with and assign tasks to ensure efficient workflow during load‑ins, tech rehearsals, performances, and strikes; assist with special event set‑up and break down in the lobby, as directed.
- Coordinate with various LPAC staff to ensure smooth technical operations.
- Ensure that lighting setups adhere to health and safety regulations; conduct risk assessment and implement best practices for electrical and rigging safety.
- Train staff on proper handling of safety equipment; oversee stage crew handling lighting matters.
- Provide professional, customer‑focused, welcoming service.
- Maintain a physical presence at the work location; maintain punctuality and work a flexible schedule including night, weekend, holidays and events.
- Operate and oversee the operation of and ETC lighting system throughout the facility.
- Perform related work as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution; AND
- Six (6) months of lighting live events at a performing arts center or theatre; AND
- A valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
If no applicants meet the minimum qualifications, an equivalent combination of education, training, experience, and preferred qualifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications- Associate’s degree in Theatre Design/Technology, Fine Arts, or closely related field.
