Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will play an integral part in the daily operations of our accounting department, maintaining accurate financial records, executing month-end close procedures, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. This position will have direct access to the company’s leadership team. The ideal candidate possesses strong Excel skills, a solid understanding of core accounting principles, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Core

Responsibilities
  • General Ledger & Reconciliation
    • Prepare and post journal entries for routine business transactions.
    • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations.
    • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts (e.g., prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets).
  • Month-End & Year-End Close
    • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes according to established timelines.
    • Analyze financial statement variances and provide explanations for fluctuations.
    • Support the preparation of financial statements, including the Balance Sheet and Income Statement.
  • Accounts Payable, Receivable & Compliance
    • Oversee or assist with the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
    • Review employee expense reports for policy compliance and proper coding.
    • Assist with sales tax filings, property tax filings, and local business compliance requirements.
  • Payroll
    • Work with external HR service to communicate pay-cycle changes.
    • Ensure bi-weekly payroll is completed timely and funded.
  • Audit & Special Projects
    • Prepare schedules and gather documentation for external auditors during annual audits.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and improve internal controls.
    • Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as requested by management.
    • Participate in the budget and forecasting process.
