Electrical Estimator
A strong electrical contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their construction team and lead cost estimating for electrical projects. The role focuses on producing accurate, competitive estimates for electric construction work, supporting bid development, and enabling successful project execution. The ideal candidate combines strong estimating skills with construction knowledge, effective communication, and familiarity with estimating and project-management software.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare complete, accurate estimates and scopes of work for electrical projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Perform detailed takeoffs from drawings and specifications and create line-item cost breakdowns.
- Develop competitive bid proposals and assist in bid strategy and pricing decisions.
- Maintain historical cost databases, estimating templates, and bid logs; ensure estimates conform to company standards.
- Utilize estimating and project-management software to prepare and track estimates and proposals (ConEST, Accubid, Procore, Quick Books where applicable).
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings as required to clarify scope and conditions.
- Provide post-bid support including review of award documents, scope reconciliation, and transition of information to project teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience in construction with demonstrated success producing accurate estimates (required).
- Proven skills in electric construction estimating, takeoffs, and bid preparation (must-have: Electric, Construction, Estimate).
- Practical knowledge of electrical systems, materials, installation methods, and labor productivity factors.
- Proficiency with estimating and project-management software; experience with ConEST, Accubid, Procore, and Quick Books is highly desirable.
- Experience estimating for multifamily, K-12 schools, and higher-education projects is a strong plus.
- Associate or bachelors degree in Construction Management, Electrical Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
