GRADE 5 TEACHER

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Maintain currency in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
2.Plan and deliver appropriate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
3.Demonstrate the ability to use a wide variety of instructional strategies as supported by research and identified as current best practice.
4.Incorporate meaningful pre- and post-assessment into teaching.
5.Implement accommodations to enable individual learners to access instruction.
6.Maintain a positive learning climate in the classroom.
7.Implement flexible differentiated instruction to engage all learners.
8.Engage students in taking ownership of their individual learning.
9.Demonstrates a full knowledge of effective classroom management strategies to ensure a positive classroom environment.
10.Maintains accurate records and meets school requirements in record keeping and written and verbal correspondence with students, parents and administration.
11.Maintains high standards and expectations for all students.
12.Promotes an appreciation of equity and diversity in the school building.
