We are hiring a Floating Teacher to support our Pembroke school. This role supports classrooms throughout the school and is an integral part of our staff, helping our program run smoothly while providing top‑notch childcare and collaborating with likeminded teachers. This role requires a creative, positive, and engaging team player who is flexible and eager to jump in to support.
Qualifications- EEC Teacher Certification (any age group), CDA, or equivalent degree and experience (required)
- Daycare experience in a center‑based or private school setting
- An engaging and energetic demeanor and a love for helping young children meet and exceed their developmental goals
- Availability to work a full time, flexible schedule within operating hours of the school
- Ability to spend extended periods of time on the floor with the children
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to stand up to 90% of the workday
- Attentiveness, strong time management, and a team‑focused mindset
- Providing substitute coverage when teachers are out sick, completing planning time, in need of a bathroom break, lunch break, or any other coverage throughout the day.
- Assisting classroom teachers with the routine opening/closing of the classroom, including wiping down toys, cleaning tables, vacuuming, sanitizing the room after all children have left, and overall preparation for the next morning.
- Providing classroom assistance to support teachers as needed throughout the day, including preparing materials for lesson plans, engaging with students in free play, assisting with daily projects, supervising during outdoor time, helping with bathroom needs and diapering, snack and lunch time assistance (heating lunches, cutting food, helping open containers, supervision), and naptime assistance.
- Adhering to the daily classroom schedule while assisting teachers.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the school throughout the day, including cleaning staff kitchen areas, lobbies, staff and classroom bathrooms, using the zono‑machine (if applicable), emptying trash, disposing in dumpster, assisting with laundry and organizing nap mats.
- Encouraging children's participation by providing age‑appropriate interactive activities.
- Maintaining EEC required professional development hours and PQ registry.
- Attending monthly staff meetings.
- Creating a fun and safe learning environment.
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents.
