Reports to Principal

To develop each student's understanding of the relationship between good body function and exercise; to motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness, hygienic habits, and good social and emotional adjustment; to discover and develop talents of student in physical achievement; to develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each student's ability.

• Design and implement PE classes for Kindergarten to 8th Grade students that expose them to a variety of activities, games, and sports; emphasize activities that promote lifelong physical fitness and promote teamwork and good sportsmanship.
• Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythm, and dance, and individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing appropriate learning activities.
• Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, game rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
• Provide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of pupils.
• Maintain control of storage and use of school-owned property. Select and requisition uniforms, equipment, and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
• Establish and maintain standards of students' behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
• Evaluate each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports.
• Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by Immaculate Conception School and/or in self‑selected professional growth activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field.
• PA Teacher certification in Health and Physical Education.
• Previous teaching experience preferred.

• Thorough understanding of the curricular elements of Physical Education, and a general knowledge of high school Physical Education curriculum.
• Applicants should possess a love of Physical Education, teaching, and children as well as the desire to nurture and shape the lives of our students.
• Appreciation of the developmental and age characteristics of the students in each grade.
• Enthusiasm for the mission of the school and for working collaboratively with fellow faculty members.

Must be in good physical shape to do this job with the ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb and balance; some carrying, pushing, and/or pulling may be involved; as well as some stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; exhibit manual dexterity to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard and dial a phone;

to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds.

Normal school environment; may have exposure to outside elements. Part-time; 2 days a week, Wednesday (Middle School) and Thursday (Elementary);
School hours are 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. May be required to work beyond normal school hours to attend various meetings, school events, and retreats.
