Transportation Services Representative 1 (Limited Duration)
Location:
Pendleton, Oregon. This limited duration appointment is expected to end within 1 year from the date of hire. The position may become permanent.
- Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits.
- Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
- Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions in a way that is easily understood.
- Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards.
- Administer, correct and explain driver license tests.
- Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
- Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory.
- Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
- May require standing for extended periods of time, working in inclement weather, working an irregular schedule and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy.
- Two years of public contact/customer service experience (in person or by phone) providing information about services, programs, rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
- Three months experience collecting money and making change.
- Completion of an associate’s degree substitutes for one year of the public contact experience.
- Valid U.S. driver license and acceptable driving record. Pre‑employment driving record checks will be conducted. License does not have to be issued in Oregon.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced environment and dealing with stressful situations.
- Demonstrated computer literacy and reading comprehension skills.
- Experience providing excellent customer service.
- Experience handling multiple assignments and frequent interruptions.
- Experience effectively interpreting and communicating complex rules and policies to customers or clients.
- Complete the application and attach a resume. Ensure date (MM/YYYY) information for each employer.
- Complete the questionnaire and answer all checkbox‑style questions before submitting.
- After submission, respond to the public records request authorization and gender identity questionnaire. If a current State of Oregon employee, tasks will appear in Workday inbox.
- Veteran or Oregon National Guard service members may receive preference; upload required documents after submission. Do not attach military service documents with the application.

- Criminal background checks (name‑based and fingerprint‑based) will be conducted on final candidates.
