We are seeking a locum tenens general surgeon for an assignment in Pendleton, Oregon (97801), providing clinic, OR, and inpatient consult coverage. This travel physician opportunity is ideal for a board-certified General Surgery physician interested in Oregon locum tenens work.

• Location: Pendleton, OR 97801
• Weekly Estimated Pay (candidate pay): $7,870-$8,430 per week
• Start Date: As soon as credentialed
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (with ongoing coverage needs up to 1 year)
• Setting: Community acute care hospital + outpatient surgery clinic
• Hours/Week: 36 hours/week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour days
• Call Coverage: 24-hour call coverage is required while on assignment; call shift time is 5:30am-5:30am. Provider is on call 24/7 while working.
• Schedule Highlights: Monday-Friday clinic coverage (typically 8:00a-5:00p) with OR blocks; block-style scheduling (e.g., 7-10 day blocks) may be used.

• Volume Snapshot: 500 surgeries/year ( 10/week); 75% outpatient; clinic 14-16 patients/day; 2 inpatient admissions/week

• Board Certification: Board Certified in General Surgery (required)
• Licensure: Active Oregon medical license (required). Candidates with an Oregon license already in process may be considered for certain start timelines.
• Training: Completed General Surgery residency (required)
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS (required)
• DEA: Active DEA (required)
• Professional Standing: Clean malpractice history strongly preferred
• NPDB: Self-Query NPDB report required at time of presentation (dated within 30 days)
• Practice Expectations: Must be willing to provide both clinic-based care and hospital coverage; must be able to respond to ED trauma consults

• Provide comprehensive general surgery coverage across outpatient clinic, operating room, inpatient consults, and emergency cases
• See scheduled clinic patients Monday-Friday and coordinate follow-up and post-op care
• Perform scheduled and emergent surgical procedures and provide perioperative management
• Respond to ED consults and trauma needs as required by the service
• Collaborate with onsite clinical teams and support staff to ensure safe handoffs and continuity of care
• Document care accurately and timely in Meditech (hospital) and eCW/eClinical
  
  Works (clinic)
• Perform core general surgery procedures, including (but not limited to):
  • Cholecystectomy
  • Appendectomy
  • Hernia repair with mesh
  • Diagnostic and screening colonoscopies
  • Diagnostic EGD
  • Hemorrhoidectomy
  • Skin excisions
  • Breast lesion excision
  • Abdominal wall repair with synthetic substitute
