Make a difference in a community-focused hospital setting by joining our team as a Locum - Physician - Surgery - General. This vital role offers the chance to provide compassionate surgical care within a busy hospital and clinic environment, supporting patient health and recovery in beautiful Pendleton, Oregon. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive general surgery services, including diagnostic and screening colonoscopies, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs with mesh, breast excisions, appendectomies, skin excisions, hemorrhoidectomies, and abdominal wall repairs.
- Attend to scheduled clinic patients Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with ongoing on-call responsibilities 24/7.
- Manage inpatient admissions, post-operative care, emergency surgeries, and trauma responses as needed.
- Collaborate with hospital staff and support teams to ensure quality patient care using Meditech and eClinical
Works EMRs. - Participate in a flexible 7-10 day block schedule over a one-year term, starting as soon as credentialed.
- Board Certification in General Surgery.
- Valid medical license in Oregon.
- Proven proficiency in both outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures.
- Strong trauma response skills and ability to work independently in a community hospital setting.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Skills:
- Experience with minimally invasive procedures.
- Prior work in rural or community hospital environments.
- Competency in EMR documentation and management.
Education and Experience:
- Medical Degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- At least 2 years of post-residency surgical practice, ideally including trauma or emergency care.
- Willingness to work in both hospital and clinic settings.
- Ability to respond rapidly to traumas and emergencies.
- Candidates should plan to fly into Pasco, WA, and rent a vehicle for the 65-mile commute.
- Successful credentialing and temporary hospital privileges required prior to start.
