Job Summary
Orthopedic Surgeon – Pendleton, OR (Catholic Health Initiatives). Treats patients with orthopedic conditions such as scoliosis, dislocations, fractures, tendon, muscle, and ligament damage. Responsibilities include consulting with patients, discussing treatment options, performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, overseeing after-care and physical therapy, and coordinating with other specialists.
Essential Functions- Consult with patients and analyze data to determine treatment goals.
- Examine patients to diagnose bone, joint, ligament, or other musculoskeletal problems.
- Collaborate with other specialists to determine a treatment plan.
- Maintain detailed patient care notes, including tests and prescribed treatments.
- Administer general and local anesthetics when necessary.
- Perform surgical procedures on the musculoskeletal system, including plating, reattaching tendons, and joint or hip replacements.
- Prescribe medication to aid recovery and manage pain post-surgery.
- Refer patients to physical therapy or perform non-surgical procedures such as casting and splinting.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Provide support and advice to patients undergoing long-term care.
- Conduct research on musculoskeletal disorders.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or related field; 4-7 years of internship and residency training specializing in orthopedic surgery.
- Licensure and
Certifications:
USMLE or COMLEX-USA completion; active Medical License from the State of Oregon;
Board certification by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (or subspecialty). - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Exceptional attention to detail; outstanding hand-eye coordination and dexterity; wonderful bedside manner; excellent communicator who can empathize with patients; flexible working hours.
Pay Range: $260.46 - $335.20 per hour. Benefits may include health, dental, and vision insurance; FSA; matching retirement plans; paid vacation; adoption assistance; annual bonus eligibility.
