Position: 1 Year Interim Elementary Assistant Principal – Sherwood Heights Elementary School. 215 day contract.
Reports to:
Superintendent.
- Demonstrate Visionary Leadership: collaboratively develop and implement a shared vision for the school; develop and implement school improvement plans; monitor and evaluate building goals and site plans; promote continuous and sustainable growth.
- Facilitate a culture focused on instructional improvement: nurture a culture of trust and high expectations; monitor student progress toward district strategic plan goals; develop instructional and leadership capacity of staff; consistently evaluate instruction.
- Demonstrate effective management practices: efficiently utilize resources of people, time, fiscal and technology; promote and protect welfare and safety of students and staff; ensure organizational time focuses on quality instruction and student learning.
- Foster inclusive practices that reduce achievement gap: apply strategies based on student subgroup data; respect community’s cultural and social resources; build and support positive relations with stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrate ethical leadership: engage in honest, transparent and consistent behaviors; ensure accountability for every student’s academic and social success.
- Aware and responsive to socio‑political influences: advocate for students and families; anticipate emerging trends and initiatives to adapt leadership.
Job Requirements
- Valid Oregon Administrative License.
- Masters’ degree in School Administration or related field (master’s preferred).
- At least five years’ experience in public school administration (preferred).
- At least seven years’ experience teaching successfully (preferred).
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, patrons.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Required to travel within region and state on occasion.
- Required to work flexible hours and schedules.
- Majority of work conducted in classroom or office environment.
