The City of Pendleton Oregon is creating an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. The Pendleton Fire & Ambulance Department (PFD) anticipates filling multiple vacancies from candidates on this list. PFD provides fire protection, ALS ambulance transport, and rescue services from three fire stations within its 22-square-mile fire protection boundaries and ~2000-square-mile Ambulance Service Area. The department responded to over 4,000 calls for service last year.
GENERALPOSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties in response to fire and other emergency calls for the protection of life, property, and environment; renders emergency medical response and advanced life support activity; maintains and operates a variety of firefighting, emergency medical, and fire station equipment; to participate in fire prevention, public education, disaster preparedness, and training activities and to perform a variety of related duties relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
Requirementsfor the position are:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (Associate Degree in Fire Technology or Emergency Medical Services preferred)
- Possession of a valid EMT-Paramedic certificate. If not an Oregon certificate, must meet the requirements for Oregon reciprocity
- Satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid, insurable Driver’s License
- Must be able to effectively read, speak and write the English language
- Possession of a valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate
- Valid/Current CPAT at time of hire
- NFPA Apparatus Operator Equipped with a Pump
- NFPA Firefighter 1 or equivalent
- NWCG Wildland Firefighter Type 2
- NFPA Apparatus Operator Equipped with an Aerial Device
- NFPA Driver Operator
The test will be conducted through the National Testing Network and will include a written exam. This will be followed by an assessment center including skills tests and oral interview.
