Mental Health Therapist

Provides case management, skills training, support services, and group and individual counseling for individuals with developmental disabilities, severe and persistent mental illness, and chemical dependency at the required level.

• Under general supervision, assess client needs and functional level.
• Provide individualized case management to clients and make appropriate referrals.
• Deliver individual and group counseling, education, support, skills training, and outreach to client homes.
• Act as liaison, providing consultation, education, and information to community agencies.
• Make diagnoses and conduct DSM IV evaluations, developing diagnostic evaluations and treatment plans.
• Assist with program planning and serve as program coordinator.
• Consult on chemical dependency problems and educate/train staff and community groups.
• Provide clinical review of work by other clinicians or subcontracted programs.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Reasoning:
  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Requires an M.A. degree plus two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must provide individual, group, and family counseling or equivalent experience.
