Position Title:
Health Information Specialist – Pendleton Cottage (Pendleton, Oregon)
Job Summary:
The Health Information Specialist will maintain accurate and complete medical records for a 24/7, 16-bed State-Run Secure Residential Treatment Facility, support Medicaid billing, and perform related administrative duties.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records for a 24/7, 16-bed State-Run Secure Residential Treatment Facility.
- Oversee diagnostic coding in the EHR system, ensuring accurate assignment and verification of ICD‑10 codes.
- Support Medicaid billing processes and ensure timely submission of claims.
- Audit records, enter demographic data, and maintain HIPAA‑compliant archiving to ensure integrity and accessibility of medical records.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to support development and completion of records.
- Provide administrative support, including coordinating meetings, schedules, and maintaining organized documentation systems.
- Two years of experience related to health information (processing, maintaining, compiling, and/or reporting on patient information for health requirements or standards).
- OR an associate’s degree in Health Information Technology from an accredited program.
- OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience submitting prior authorization requests for Medicaid billing.
- Ability to apply administrative rules for audit and quality assurance.
- Experience collaborating with diverse disciplines (QMHA, QMHP, and other licensed professionals).
- Experience with medical, psychiatric, and legal terminology and medical transcription standards.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Adobe DC.
- Experience with hybrid (paper and electronic) medical records in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Knowledge of Oregon Revised Statutes related to disclosure of patient information.
