Respiratory Therapist
This position requires working in a critical access hospital setting. The therapist will see a varying number of treatments per day based on patient levels. The types of patients include all ages, with a specific focus on new newborns due to a high delivery rate. The position covers the entire hospital, including the Emergency Room and Critical Care Unit, but does not typically enter certain areas except for specific procedures like COVID swab taking.
Experience or skills in ventilator management, BiPAP and CPAP operation, and assistive intubation techniques is necessary. The therapist will perform breathing treatments, EKGs, and ABGs as part of their duties. The scheduling involves variable shifts and typically requires working alone. Weekend and holiday work is required to cover staffing needs. There is no call or standby response requirement. Physical ability to move quickly and walk significant distances is essential.
Teamwork and prioritization skills are critical for success in this role. Daily shift checks and documentation of procedures are the therapist's responsibility.
