Position: Data Center Technician I
Description

As an Amazon Data Center Technician you serve as one of many primary resolvers for your support team skilled at troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware infrastructure issues. You support and share knowledge of these technologies with team members. You possess basic to intermediate system administration skills and work autonomously to resolve server issues. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support.

You know how to take direction when given paying attention to all details involved. You work well with a team. You are receptive to feedback and able to adjust performance and behavior as required for the position.

Key

Duties & Responsibilities Perform advanced server diagnostics, break-fix repair, and component replacement for AWS hardware. Install, configure, and decommission servers and network gear following AWS standards. Monitor and respond to data center alarms, hardware health alerts, and operational events. Support network infrastructure through fiber/copper patching, connectivity testing, and switch installs. Track, audit, and manage inventory including servers, parts, tools, and consumables.

Conduct physical infrastructure checks (power, cooling, cabling, rack integrity). Maintain strict security practices including badge control, visitor escorts, and audit compliance. Document work through tickets, change records, and operational logs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform capacity planning and root-cause analysis. Participate in on-call rotations and support maintenance windows. Top Skills & Competencies Hardware Expertise:
Strong knowledge of server architecture, component-level repair, diagnostics tools, and OEM hardware. Networking Fundamentals:
Understanding of TCP/IP, cabling standards, patching, link testing, and basic switch configuration. Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis:
Ability to evaluate technical symptoms, isolate faults, and drive issues to resolution. Operational Excellence:
Familiarity with ITIL practices, ticketing systems, SOP adherence, and change management. Physical Infrastructure Knowledge:

Experience with racks, PDUs, UPS systems, cable management, airflow, and cooling principles. Security & Compliance:
Awareness of data center security protocols, access control, and audit requirements.

Soft Skills:

Clear communication, teamwork, ability to work under pressure, strong time management, and attention to detail. Tools Proficiency:
Use of KVMs, crash carts, cable testers, power measurement tools, and diagnostic utilities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
