The Director of College Relations is responsible for the development and planning of College Relations, including external college relations, community engagement, marketing, media, publications, and advertising. The role ensures that all college marketing and media efforts align with the policies and strategic goals of the College to broaden BMCC’s visibility and enhance recognition within the district.
Essential Functions- Develops and produces college marketing and media that serve marketing purposes.
- Collaborates with campus departments to produce and promote the schedule of classes, college catalog, departmental brochures, e‑newsletter, and other publications, ensuring a consistent and high‑quality image.
- Manages design, production, and content of college media and community relations materials.
- Oversees the advertising budget and authorizes spending in line with strategic priorities.
- Prepares Requests for Proposals for printing and design services and works with selected vendors.
- Builds and maintains relationships with advertising representatives, creating an annual advertising schedule and plan.
- Supports and promotes recruitment, retention, and instructional programs, including new program rollouts.
- Manages the BMCC website and all social media pages, and develops college social media policies.
- Coordinates communications, news stories, social media management, marketing, and promotion with the Athletics Department.
- Serves as a secondary spokesperson for the College President when required.
- Designs, creates content for, and publishes the intra‑campus newsletter, Timber talk.
- Provides vision and strategy for all external community relations functions, including parades, festivals, and related events.
- Collaborates with the BMCC Foundation on alumni relations and fundraising opportunities.
- Participates in continuous development of cultural competency to support equitable relationships.
- Serves on college‑wide committees as assigned.
- Self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong multitasking ability in a complex environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective time and project management, meeting deadlines and prioritizing strategically.
- Ability to create and manage a budget for special projects.
- Familiarity with BMCC programs and services.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, high energy, and sense of personal responsibility.
- Collaborative, cooperative, and effective teamwork with diverse personalities.
- Ability to provide informal training to facilitate marketing plans for small and large groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Access, or the ability to learn selected programs.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or the ability to learn such programs.
- Understanding of new technologies that affect marketing/communication efforts.
- Basic knowledge of the printing process, broadcast and digital media, layout and publication development, and photography.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Three to five years of experience in communications, marketing, media development, or public information.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) speaking, reading, and writing ability.
- Valid driver’s license; travel required within the College district, with occasional statewide travel.
- Flexible work week, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
Pay: $69,000 – $81,000 per year.

Veteran's preference points will be given provided DD214/DD215 is provided.
