Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring ventilator management and drip titration skills.

Details
  • Acute care ICU setting with 5 beds
  • Patient ratios of 1:2-3, with 1:1 for unstable ventilated patients
  • Common diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, DKA, COPD exacerbation, and RSV/Influenza/COVID-19
  • Mixed unit occasionally includes stable pediatric patients, requiring comfort with all age populations
  • Uses MEDITECH EMR
  • Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 3x12-hour shifts per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday requirement is negotiable
  • On-call/low census expectation to report within 30 minutes if called
  • Floating required for RNs not fully cross-trained, functioning as helping hands in other departments
  • Charge RN is a unit RN who also carries a patient assignment
  • 24/7 in-house hospitalist and respiratory therapy coverage
  • RT equipment includes ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
  • CCU RNs read telemetry strips for med-surg patients
Requirements
  • Active OR RN license or eligibility for 90-Day Oregon Emergency License if not currently held
  • Active State or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • BSN not required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (active, not pending)
  • Experience with ventilator management and drip titration required
  • Experience titrating heparin, vasopressors, Bumex, insulin, and sedation/analgesia drips
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide direct ICU nursing care including ventilator management and titratable drip administration
  • Unit has 1 CNA available during day shift
  • Unit orientation is 3-6 shifts, longer if needed
  • Dress code requires navy blue scrubs
  • Strong staffing ratios and teamwork emphasized on this unit
  • Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
