Job Summary

Early Years Assistant – fixed term until 31/12/2026.

Location:

Fox Covert Early Years Centre, Edinburgh.

Salary: £25,905 – £26,111 (pro‑rata for part‑time and sessional).

Hours:

17 per week over 39 sessional weeks (Monday 09:00‑15:30, Tuesday & Thursday 09:00‑15:00, with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break each day).

Fox Covert Early Years is a large, busy setting with capacity for 85 children at any one time. Children attend various patterns of care between 08:00 and 18:00, 52 weeks per year. The nursery works alongside our excellent term‑time Forest Kindergarten team, offering a blended placement for families who choose this pattern. The team is friendly, supportive, energetic and passionate, following a Froebelian approach, with natural, warm and welcoming environments both indoors and outdoors.

Provide care and support for children in the centre, contributing to a positive growth‑mindset ethos where everyone is encouraged to be their best. Work with the team to deliver a supportive, nurturing and rich learning environment.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Candidates must join the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check. Where a candidate has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more abroad in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required and must be provided.

An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
