Mid-Level Social Studies Teacher (2026/2027 SY)Job Description
The Penn Hills School District, located in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, is currently seeking a Mid-Level Social Studies Teacher for Penn Hills Linton Middle School.
Position TitleTeacher
Qualifications- A Bachelor's degree in education is required.
- A valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in Social Studies is required.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience is preferred.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies.
- Working knowledge of curriculum and concepts in area of certificate, child growth, developmental patterns, student behavior characteristics, skilled in classroom management, lesson design and educational trends.
- Ability to utilize a variety of instructional strategies to motivate students in the classroom.
- Understand Pennsylvania School Law and how it is applied towards the educational environment.
- Knowledge of current educational trends.
- Ability to communicate effectively with good oral and written form with students, parents, agencies and staff members.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
- Ability to work under pressure, be flexible, and work as part of a team.
- Self-motivated; demonstrated initiative and ability to follow through with completion of tasks.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, while remaining logical and interpersonal.
- Ability to negotiate and diffuse conflict.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
A teacher must demonstrate knowledge of a variety of instructional strategies and formative and summative assessments. The purpose of this position is to effectively engage students in the learning process and support their growth in and understanding of the specified subject matter.
