Senior Application Expert – EMEA R&D
As a member of the EMEA R&D team, the Senior Application Expert is responsible for supporting the development of innovative products for the packaging industry, with a strong focus on understanding the interaction between packaging materials, customer packaging equipment, and the packaged product. The role involves close collaboration with both the R&D Process team and the R&D Analytical team.
The candidate will design and execute test plans, perform fitness‑for‑use evaluations, clearly communicate findings, and provide expert recommendations on the appropriate path forward to customers, internal teams, and key stakeholders.
In addition, the Senior Application Expert will collaborate with the equipment and materials teams, as well as Field Support, Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain, to ensure that existing products consistently meet Sealed Air’s high performance and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Lead the development, design, and conduct trials that validate the reliability of equipment, materials, and their interactions to provide robust solutions to customers.
- Produce high‑quality results and provide technical documentation that enables data‑driven business decisions.
- Propose and implement ideas that enhance current product lines or develop new products, driving increased profit based on a detailed understanding of materials, equipment, and customer operations.
- Follow up the market introduction of newly released systems through field monitoring and support.
- Manage projects that enable supply‑chain improvements to manufacturing processes and raw materials, quantifying the impact of these changes on material performance.
- Create value‑propositions and competitive intelligence for Sealed Air’s development solutions, driving credible project definition and scoping documents.
- Engage with sustainability experts to design products compliant with upcoming PPWR regulations.
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Packaging Engineering/Science, Food/Meat Science, or a related field, with 2 to 4 years of experience in a packaging discipline. Equipment and automation experience or background is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience creating data‑driven reports to communicate technical ideas.
- Experience managing multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Professional, highly‑motivated, reliable, and solution‑oriented. Demonstrated autonomy, initiative, leadership, and adaptability to new situations.
- Team player able to work effectively on cross‑functional projects.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally is a must.
- Fluent in English is a must.
