Description:

The CNA will ensure that residents' Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) needs are met as outlined in the plan of care. Care is provided in accordance with policies and procedures within a safe and comfortable environment. Responsibilities include hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, and skin care. Documentation must be completed per protocol. Maintain residents' environment and safety as outlined in the plan of care.

This includes answering call lights and alarms promptly and ensuring cleanliness of the unit. Behavior and fall prevention measures must be conducted according to policies and procedures. Residents' nutritional needs are to be met in accordance with the plan of care, including meal delivery and feeding assistance. Residents' preferences and choices shall be honored, with documentation completed per protocol. Rehabilitative needs must be addressed as outlined in the plan of care, including range of motion and transfers.

Changes in residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial status must be reported to the supervising nurse promptly. Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated, and required tasks may involve contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
