The CPE (
Advanced Computing, Photonics, Electromagnetics
) research domain focuses applied research activities on HPC convergence, Big Data, and the orchestration of supercomputing resources. Frontier research focuses on Quantum Computing, Quantum Communication, bionics, nuclear and biomedical fusion through the experimental laboratories of rapid prototyping, biomedical and photonics. The Antenna and EMC research unit, part of the Advanced Computing, Photonics & Electromagnetics research domain, represents more than 10 years of experience in experimental, numerical, and theoretical activities in antennas, EMC and applied electromagnetics.
The antenna modelling section has a strong expertise in Computational Electromagnetics (CEM), and it has developed several high-performance algorithms for computer-assisted design, antenna optimization and synthesis, electromagnetic virtual prototyping, and diagnostic tools associated to measurement systems. The unit is a reference research group for the design, manufacture and test innovative low profile, electronically scanning antenna and the development of SW for commercial use able to: efficiently model large multiscale structures (~100λ), reconstruct equivalent electromagnetic current distributions, automatic analysis of antenna placement and RF blackout mitigation in complex environment like re-entry vehicles.
The researcher will join the team that works on the development of advanced algorithms and fast solvers for integral and differential equations for high performance computing, optimization, and on machine learning for computational science, focusing on several aspects of Computational Electromagnetics
. The final goal is to develop non-standard solutions for innovative antenna for future telecommunication systems and testing of prototypes (an activity that will directly involve the researcher). The researcher will be integrated in a group that collaborates with national and international companies and research centers, Agencies, such as the European Space Agency (ESA), and he/she will work on the design of innovative design tools, antennas and on the development of a prototype architecture able to achieve the stated product goals.
